May finish eyed for Puller Ctr. revamp into sheriff’s HQ

The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) approved the final supplement costs of nearly $170,000 to complete the Puller Center restoration into the Middlesex County Sheriff and Emergency Services offices at Cooks Corner.

Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey informed the board on Tuesday, April 8, that the job is expected to be completed on May 2. The approved supplement costs were to pay $77,951 for roof and gutter repairs on the building and $91,891 to pave a portion of the parking lot. Neither of these items were in the original bid of $3.3 million.

The final amount came close, however, to the anticipated 10% contingency fund estimated that would be needed to cover unforeseen items in the old building.

Since the start of renovation, Norman Company  Inc. of Mechanicsville had supervisors approve change orders amounting to 7.9% over the original $3.3 million bid…
