The Christchurch School swim team defeated the combined swim team of Middlesex High School and Lancaster High School — the two schools compete as one team — on Dec. 8 at the Northern Neck YMCA in Kilmarnock.
The Middlesex High School (MHS) Lady Charger basketball team is improving. On Dec. 8, the Lady Chargers played a hard fought game at Rappahannock and fell short by just 3 points, losing 36-33.
A car struck and killed a Topping man who was walking along Route 33 just west of Hartfield Saturday evening. The man, Leon Keyser, 42, was walking westbound near Bob’s Hole Road when he was hit by a westbound 2007 Toyota Yaris, driven by Pamela E. Morris, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya, of the Virginia State Police.
“It is amazing to see their growth from game to game,” said Coach Wake. “They are willing to learn and the coaches appreciate that. They remain enthusiastic and continue to work hard in practice.”
