The Middlesex High School Charger baseball team (1-4) picked up its first win of the season Saturday, March 29, by defeating Nandua High School, 16-1. MHS also lost two games last week losing to Rappahannock of Warsaw, 16-0, and Essex, 9-2.
Against Nandua, the Chargers were paced by Bryson Bulgin on the mound, pitching the entire five inning game, striking out six batters, allowing three bases on balls and giving up only one run in the game.
MHS was paced on the offense by Shane Glenn, Luke McMurtrie, and Bulgin who each had one hit and two RBIs. Thomas Foster reached first base three times with a hit and two walks; Jakub Bowen, two walks; Henry Fleet, RBI; Nolan Rutkowski, hit and RBI; Zach Deagle, RBI; and Payton Calhoun, hit and RBI.
The Chargers lost to the Essex High School Trojans, 9-2, on Thursday, March 27. The Chargers were paced by McMurtire and Nathan Rutkowski, who each had a hit and knocked in a run apiece.
The Chargers lost to Rappahannock High School, 16-0, on Tuesday, March 25, at a home meet. The Raiders were able to get 17 hits off the Chargers pitching and held Middlesex to just two hits.
Spring break is in effect this week so there will be no games.
