Seven players return to the 2024-2025 Middlesex High School varsity softball team that advanced to the state quarterfinals in 2024.

On Tuesday, the varsity Lady Chargers opened the season with a win over visiting Northumberland.

Among the returning Lady Chargers are four who made first team All Region in 2024 — pitcher Magen Daniels, outfielder Candice Brown, second baseman Libby Oliver, and third baseman Courtney Jessie.

Catcher Kayleigh Moye, who made second team All Region, will be behind the plate.

Cheyenne Musick, selected to the second team All-Tidewater District, returns as an outfielder.

Daniels, Oliver and Moye are seniors. Courtney Jessie, Carly Jessie and Cheyenne Musick are juniors.

Sophomore Mary Johnson rounds out the list of returning Lady Chargers.

New varsity players include six freshmen, Lailah Baylor at first base; and five outfielders, Hannah Lambert, Rylee Buck, Chloe Myers, Kyla Blazek and Riley Depping.

The Lady Chargers will again be coached by Chris Moye and Chucky Oliver.
