Hugh Collin Falkenstein, known affectionately as Hubie, Hupa and Bubba, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at his home in Deltaville, surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.
Born on Dec. 6, 1941, in Richmond, Hubie was a graduate of Hermitage High School. He dedicated much of his life to serving the community as a member of the City of Richmond Fire Department, where he worked with honor and commitment before retiring.
When he was not at the station, you could find Hubie on the golf course, in town swinging a hammer on a construction site, or lending a hand to a neighbor. He was a man who found joy in helping others, and his generosity and willingness to help were constant throughout his years.
Hubie loved living at the river, spending time with family and friends. He also held a special love for his Labrador retrievers Wendy, Maggie and Gracie.
His greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and brother. His love for his family was evident in the quality time spent creating many lasting memories. His legacy of kindness, smile, laughter, and sense of humor will continue to live on in their hearts.
Hubie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever.
