Ward’s wins Middlesex ‘Rec’ basketball sr. league crown

Ward’s Landscaping LLC won the Middlesex County
Parks and Rec basketball senior league regular season title and won the tournament championship on Saturday by beating J&M Rizing Stazs, 53-41.

The regular season junior league champion, Middlesex Farm Bureau, was upset by Iron Horse, Xpress LLC, 25-20.

In the senior league championship game, Ryian Ward paced Ward’s with 17 points. Elroy Delaney Jr. had 11 points and Nicholas Terry knocked down a trio of 3-pointers for 9 points in the game. Others to score were Jeremiah Sheppard and Everette Ward who scored 6 points apiece and Carson Ward scored 4 points.

J&M Rizing Stazs was paced by Niren Baker, who scored 13 points; Tyzaiah Braxton, 10 points; Chase Shaver, 8 points; and Anthony Billups and Avery Weston, 5 points each.

In junior league play, Iron Horse put up a strong defensive stand in the fourth quarter not allowing Farm Bureau to score a single point. Tied at half-time 10-10, the lead in the game went back and forth until the fourth quarter when Iron Horse pulled away scoring 10 points in the fourth quarter.

Iron Horse was paced by Christian Terry who scored 14 points; Jalen Wynn, 5 points; Jeremiah Clase, 4 points all in the fourth quarter; and Adorian Lee had 2 points.

Farm Bureau was paced by Anthony Hodges who scored half of Farm Bureau’s points with 10 points; Jaxson Wilds, Skylar Beverley and Jaiden Cooke all had 3 points each; and Joel Albertorio had a point.

The MCPRD basketball winter program serves more than 150 children. MCPRD will offer a summer basketball league for boys and girls ages 8-15.
