Mary Alvera Faria Ransone

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Alvera Faria Ransone of Wake on Monday, March 3, 2025. Mary was born June 9, 1933.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Carl Ransone Sr.; and son, Richard.

She is survived by her children, Charlotte (Bob), Carl Jr., Joseph (Mary), Lori, Eric (Stephanie); daughter-in-law, Melanie; her grandchildren, Shannon (Steven), Erin (Matt), Tasja (Chris), Emily, Alex, Matthew, Victoria (Joseph) Courtney (Patrick), Tyler, Connor, Carl and Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Alexia, Ryanna, Natalie, Bryleigh, Devyn and Elliott.

Mary grew up with her brothers and sisters in New York, where she met her husband, Carl. They married quickly and moved to Virginia, where she took care of local children while raising her own family before retiring with Carl to Wake. Her retirement was full of the simple pleasures of life — quiet mornings with chirping birds, crafting quilts and scarves for her loved ones, and many games of solitaire.

Though our hearts ache with her loss, we find solace in the memories she gave us, the lessons she taught, and the immense love she leaves behind. She was a beacon of kindness, warmth, and strength, touching the lives of all who knew her. Her spirit will live on in the gigantic family she made and cherished so deeply.

A celebration of her life is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, March 10 at Bliley’s Staples Mill in Richmond. Her family also hosted a visitation Sunday, March 9 at Bliley’s Staples Mill. In lieu of flowers, her chickadees kindly ask that donations be made to Massey Cancer Center or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, two organizations she frequently supported herself.

Rest peacefully, Mary. You will forever be in our hearts.
