The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) received preliminary budget information on Monday, Feb. 10, from School Superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz that includes a 7% raise for teachers, a 4% raise for all other school employees and a $779,000, or an 8% increase in county local funds to fund the proposed fiscal year (FY) 2025-2026 school budget. The new fiscal year starts July 1.
Dr. Seitz noted at the school board meeting that because Middlesex teachers have been receiving only “cost of living raises” over the past few years and other divisions have been giving higher increases, the other school divisions are now ahead of Middlesex. “We struggle to hire and maintain staff,” said Dr. Seitz.
She said that Middlesex is now the only school division in the area that has starting teacher salaries less than $50,000…
