The Middlesex High School (MHS) boys basketball team (12-5, 8-1) defeated the Mathews High School Blue Devils, 47-43, in a top-seed Tidewater district matchup on Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Mathews Blue Devils have also lost one Tidewater District game so far and are currently tied for first in regular season district standings at 8-1.

Earlier, on Monday, Jan. 27, the Chargers defeated the Rappahannock Raiders of Warsaw, 54-37, in a non-conference game and MHS won a district contest against the Charles City Panthers, 62-32, on Thursday, Jan. 30.
