The Middlesex High School (MHS) wrestling team placed third in a quad meet at Essex High School on Jan. 27. The Chargers defeated Rappahannock of Warsaw, 42-36, but lost to King William, 54-18, and Essex, 42-24.
Joseph Brandon won all three of his matches in the 132-pound weight class. Connor Graulich won, 2-1, in the 106-pound weight class; Andrew Harrow, 2-1, 157-pound weight division; Max Weston, 1-2, 120-pound weight class; Joseph Rowe, 1-2, 114-pound division; Tucker Campbell, 1-2, 150-pound weight class; Ethan Walker, 1-2, 165-pound class; Zach Deagle, 1-2, 190-pound weight division; and Zachary Dean, 1-2, 285-pound weight class.
In the win against Rappahannock’s Raiders, MHS wrestler Brandon won in the 132-pound weight class by defeating James Heltzel in a 3:02 pin and Campbell won in the 150-pound weight class with a 1:41 pin over Messiah Hill. Also, Walker won in the 165-pound weight class when he pinned Gabe Langford in 25 seconds and Dean won in the 285-pound weight division with a 4:38 pin over RJ Houck.
Against King William’s Cavaliers, Brandon beat Hayden Brotherton with a pin in 1:56 time in the 123-pound weight class; and Harrow beat Logan Cutright in a 2:57 pin in the 157-pound class.
The Chargers also had two pin wins against Essex’s Trojans as Campbell defeated Tracy Davis in the 150-pound class in a 58-second pin; and Deagle beat Isabella Rush with a 2:39 pin in the 215-pound weight class.
