Deltaville Maritime Museum announces February games and lectures

The second installment of the popular Family Game Night at Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) will happen at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. Put your game face on, load up that car with the family and come on out. Refreshments will be available.

Game nights are free and will also be offered at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, and March 21.

Turner Lecture Series

The fourth year of the Turner Lecture Series continues on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. in DMM’s enclosed events pavilion next to DMM Waterfront Park. The Feb. 16 featured speaker will be Cynthia Byrd Conner, daughter of Sherman and Louise Byrd. Recently retired, she was employed by the Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command, Southeast Regional Maintenance Center. A management and program analyst, she has more than 25 years of experience in ship maintenance and repair. A graduate of Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), Conner completed the Bachelor of Applied Science degree in supervision and management.

Conner is a member of the Organization of Black Maritime Graduates, a 501(c)3 organization, that educates, mentors, and provides scholarships for minorities from all over the world, to attend the State University of New York Maritime College. She is also a member of the Florida Writers Association and the Military Writers Society of America.
