MHS gets 60-49 hoops win over Carver 

JaQuan Griffin, Dereon Cooke pace Chargers

The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger boys basketball team (9-5, 6-1 at press time) defeated Carver College and Career Academy, 60-49, in a district game on Jan. 21.

The Chargers were paced by JaQuan Griffin and Dereon Cooke, who scored 14 points each in the game. Nielson McMinn scored 10 points and Henry Fleet and Davonte Griffin scored 7 points apiece. Others to score were Nathan Powell, 5 points; and Shane Glenn scored 3 points.

Middlesex is currently in the number two spot in the Tidewater District boys basketball standings. The Chargers will play Charles City away on Jan. 30 and West Point at home on Feb. 4.
