During budget work session talks on Friday, Jan. 24, Pinetop Supervisor Randy Crittenden encouraged Bay Transit, a Division of Bay Aging, to consider providing trolley service from marinas in Deltaville to the shopping areas in the village.
Crittenden said there is a need to serve transient boaters who come into marinas in Deltaville and need to get to and from the business areas in the village.
Bay Transit Director Ken Pollock said that Bay Aging sponsored a trolley in Deltaville named the Osprey for three years and there was not enough participation to justify continuing.
“The marina owners in Deltaville indicated there was a need but we found that transient boaters coming into the marinas found other ways to get into town,” said Pollock.
County Administrator Matt Walker questioned whether an Uber ride system might be the answer to the Deltaville community. Pollock said Bay Transit has been experimenting with Uber throughout the Middle Peninsula and agreed that Uber would be a better solution than the trolley.
It was also announced that Pollock, longtime director of Bay Transit, will be retiring on Valentines Day (Feb. 14).
