The Middlesex County Public Library (MCPL) system invites the public to “Learning for Free,” a program exploring its online services resources at MCPL’s Deltaville branch on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. The program will be hosted by MCPL Outreach Coordinator Michael Kunzinger, and include walk-throughs of the library’s many resources available on the Internet including e-books, magazines, newspaper archives, resources for kids, and more.
Some of the resources addressed will include:
- Universal class, which provides free courses in a variety of subjects and includes Continuing Education Unit credits.
- Transparent Language, an impressively comprehensive language-learning platform for over 100 languages with options for business-oriented versions and even dialects.
- Newsbank: America’s News, giving access to the latest editions of 2,000 newspapers from around the country.
- Ancestry Library Edition, providing free access to most of Ancestry’s extensive genealogical databases.
- Resources for kids, including live online homework help, educational videos, as well as e-books and age-appropriate research databases.
- Attendees are encouraged to bring friends, and all their questions about any aspect of the library online. For those who struggle with e-books or e-audio, this is an opportunity for a hands-on walkthrough to get started.
“Learning for Free” happens at MCPL’s Deltaville branch on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. All are invited to attend.
