Shirley Kenneth Jones, 91, of St. Stephens Church, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2025.
He was a very passionate member of Mattaponi Baptist Church, where he served in a lot of positions. He was an avid carpenter most of his life. He was active with the Ruritans, Crime Solvers, and the Republican Party. He also served on the York Academy PTO. Shirley was all about family and friends and loved all his animals.
Shirley was the son of the late Floyd E. and Ruby Jones. He was preceded in death by his five siblings, Ovella, Lorraine, Howard, David and Floyd. He was married to his loving wife, Roberta Seward Jones, whom he called his “Sweetie Pie,” for 36 years .
He is survived by his children, Patricia Kirby, Nancy Hazzard (Carroll), David Jones (Roxie), Shirley Jean Bertrand (John); stepdaughter, Tracy Fitzgerald (David); grandchildren, Crystal Burch (Michael), Donna Sickal, Lori Seawell (Shawn), Kenny Hazzard (Lynn), Beth Gregory (Tom), Jimmy Brown (Ryleigh), Elizabeth Schwartzkopf (David), Angela Jones, Shawn Jones, and Brandy Parkhurst (Darrin); and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service is planned for Thursday, Jan. 9 at Mattaponi Baptist Church. The family will receive family and friends at 1 p.m. until the service starts at 2 p.m. Arrangements by B.W.
