Out with the old and in with the new. This new year, Machicomoco State Park welcomes you, starting with a free First Day Hike on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 starting at 11:30 a.m.
Spending more time outdoors is a fun and achievable New Year’s resolution and the state park in Hayes offers a variety of environments to explore. Visitors can use boat slips to fish for striped bass in the salt marsh or look for birds in the grasslands surrounding its Songbird Trail.
Visitors can also enjoy the smell of pine while hiking on Loblolly Trail. Plans are under way for the Feb. 1, 2025 reopening of the park’s cartop boat launch.
