Deltaville Lights is back for the 21st year with 180,000 bulbs, 92 “Pole Trees,” and a new centerpiece tree, said Deltaville’s Stephen Blue, mastermind of Deltaville’s annual free Christmas extravaganza.
A 17-foot-tall Snow Tree in the Snowman Loop is lit with 4,700 pure, warm, and twinkling white lights.
Other returning popular features include:
- The 30,000 bulb musical light show anchored by the 22-foot-tall, 11,000-bulb mega tree.
- The 1,600 square foot light maze.
- The 20-foot tall, 7,000-bulb walk-in interactive “Button Tree.”
- “Santa Street,” with more than a dozen blow mold Santas; some are more than 50 years old.
- More than a dozen lit scenes with more than 250 wire frame and blow mold characters.
The Deltaville Lights community Christmas lights display is open 5-11 p.m. nightly, weather permitting, through Jan. 1, 2025.
Stephen Blue started making lighted Christmas displays in 1996 at age 12 in back of the family house. (His mother only liked white, twinkle Christmas lights, which relegated his display to the backyard.)
Blue’s lights moved to the family office (Mason Realty) at the current location at 16598 General Puller Highway (Route 33) in 2002. There was no display for 2003 and 2006 due to college. The musical light show first started in 2009, and the walk-through display began in 2013.
The display draws nearly 160 amps, which is equivalent to what a large house might use. When it comes to Christmas lights, Stephen Blue agrees that “sometimes too much is not enough.”
