Middlesex High School (MHS) Lady Charger volleyball team standout Karlie Morris was named to the first-team All State for the second consecutive year. Previously Morris, a senior, was voted the Region 1A player of the year and she was the Tidewater District player of the year for the second consecutive year. Morris set a new school record for total career kills. Morris has committed to play volleyball at Randolph Macon College in Ashland next year.
Named to the second-team All State was Lady Charger setting specialist Addy Heasley, who set an MHS school record for total career assists. She also was a first-team All-Region player for the past two years.
Honorable mention
Two Lady Chargers received honorable mention for All State — Libby Oliver, the Lady Charger libero, and outside hitter Hailey Bruce. Bruce has committed to play volleyball at Mary Baldwin University. Both Oliver and Bruce were on the first-team All Region 1A, and All Tidewater District.
- The 2024-2025 Lady Chargers volleyball team went further this year than any team since Brian Walton became coach eight years ago.
- Middlesex won its fifth Tidewater District Tournament in eight years with Coach Walton, who was voted co-coach of the year for the Tidewater District, sharing the title with King William Coach Tiffany Ward.
- As the Region 1A runner up to Rappahannock, the Lady Chargers survived the first round of the State Class 1 Tournament defeating Region 1B champs Altavista Combined School. This State win was the first in at least eight years for Middlesex.
- Middlesex lost to Rappahannock of Warsaw in the state semi-finals. Auburn defeated Rappahannock to claim the state title.
