Essex to face Altavista in state grid semi-final

Trojans earlier knocked MHS out of playoffs

The Essex High School Trojans football team upset the number one seed Rappahannock High School, 41-0, Friday at Warsaw in the Region A championship final. Essex knocked the Middlesex Chargers out of the state playoffs with a 72-0 victory on Nov. 22.

The Trojans advanced to the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 1 state semi-finals.

Essex will play Altavista Combined School’s Colonels on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Altavista, which is between Lynchburg and Danville.
