Big Christmas show coming to Mathews

Tracy Hill

Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry will present its annual Smith Family and Friends Christmas Show on Saturday, Dec. 7, in Mathews High School’s Harry M. Ward Auditorium. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

You will hear country songs like “Christmas in Dixie” and “Santa Claus is Back in Town,” traditional secular songs like “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “Blue Christmas” and “Run Run Rudolph,” and religious songs like “O Holy Night,” “Go Tell It on the Mountain” and “Noel,” sung by the amazing, Tracy Hill. Children will be on hand too to sing a few favorites for you as well.

As always, the show will end with the reading of the Christmas story from the Bible with members of the Smith and Donk’s families singing special Christmas hymns.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Mathews Visitor Center and Marketplace Antiques on U.S. Route 17 in Hayes. Tickets are also available at the door on show night.
