Children in need are being blessed this Christmas season through the Samaritan’s Purse project, Operation Christmas Child.
Individuals, families and groups have the opportunity to pack a shoebox gift filled with fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items and drop them off now during National Collection Week, which continues through Nov. 25.
There are more than 4,700 drop-off locations open around the country, including at least two in Middlesex County. The Middlesex sites are Harmony Grove Baptist Church at 7722 General Puller Highway in Harmony Village, near Topping; and Hermitage Baptist Church at 94 Wares Bridge Road in Church View.
Participants can use the online lookup tool to find the nearest drop-off location and hours of operation as they make plans to drop off their shoebox gifts. It is searchable by city or zip code. Signs at each location will identify the drop off.
For information, call 410-772-7360, or visit samaritanspurse.org/occ. Those who prefer the convenience of online shopping can browse samaritanspurse.org/buildonline to select gifts matched to a child’s specific age and gender, then finish packing the virtual shoebox by adding a photo and personal note of encouragement.
