Deltaville Maritime Museum’s Holiday Gift Market set for Nov. 23

Brunch is on the menu, Santa in the building

Bypass the crowds at the malls and enjoy lots of great shopping and more! It all happens in the autumn setting of our waterfront and nature park. This is the weekend before Thanksgiving Day.

Just an FYI:  Be sure to bring your camera or phone for your very own selfies with Santa.

DMM will open an hour early at 9 a.m. to let visitors check out the variety of new specialty items at the gift shop and give them a chance to view the new additions to our exhibits. There is a Christmas tree full of handmade ornaments lovingly created by our very own ship modelers guild!

Food

  • A full slate of activities starts with “Billz Bistro” opening for a very special “Bistro Benedict Bloody Mary Brunch” at 8 a.m., and the holiday gift-oriented market and museum starting at 9 a.m.
  • The “Bistro Bunchers” become the “Bistro Brunchers” and concentrate on turning out the ultimate holiday brunch from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. for our fans.

Holiday Gift Market

  • The Holiday Gift Market will offer all your favorite  items, including wooden flags, angels, peanuts, honeys, Middlesex Pet Friends, quilts, wooden bowls, leatherwork, jewelry, original artwork, Christmas Tree ornaments and antiques, all offered by local artisans. All the vendors “under the canopies and pavilion” will be bringing their best! The DMM gift shop will also be open with one-of-a-kind Christmas items and the new John Barber prints — great holiday gifts.
  • Karen Minter and her intrepid volunteers will be set up in the tea house with activities for children of all ages and will have games or craft activities depending on the weather.
  • John England and his DMM boat shop volunteers will show off their very nearly completed new hull in their wonderful boat shop, which, it is hoped, will be the final prototype for a full-size deadrise planned for the future. Donations are needed and welcome.
  • Well-known historical author Larry Chowning will be offering and signing his books on the history of the Bay just in time for Christmas. Larry is “the” noted historian of the Chesapeake Bay and its working watermen and their vessels. Depending on the weather, Larry will be either at the tea house outside or in the boat shop.
  • The Holly Point Railroad Company with Tom and Mary Armentrout will be running DMM’s own “G” gauge elevated model railway. Toot, toot!
  • At the “Pierwalk,” there will also be creek cruises, weather permitting, on the workboat “Jennie May” with Captain Pete Cardozo. Don’t miss your last chance for a ride this season! Donations are welcomed!

All craftsmen, artists and vendors who have gift and Christmas-oriented items or foodstuffs and wish to be a vendor at the Holiday Market, call DMM at 804-776-7200. There is plenty of room in Holly Point Nature Park.
