At the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors (MCBS) meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Middlesex County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mike Hurd introduced attorney Patrick O’Donnell, who has been hired as the first-ever assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Middlesex County history.

Hurd has for many years lobbied to hire an assistant to work within his office as the workload has steadily increased and most counties now have assistants to help with the work, he has previously said.

O’Donnell is a Middlesex County resident. He wrote in his application letter when applying for the position in August, “I love Middlesex County. My wife and I bought property on the Piankatank (River) three years ago. I spend every possible hour that I can be there. I would like to contribute to the well-being of this county and its people.”

MCBS Chairman Don Harris welcomed O’Donnell to the county and thanked Hurd for the work his office does. “This is history making as you (O’Donnell) are the first assistant commonwealth’s attorney in Middlesex,” he said. “We welcome you to the county.”
