Lady Chargers host Rappahannock for the Region 1A Volleyball title tonight

The Middlesex Lady Charger volleyball team is going to the State Tournament for the sixth time in 8 years.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m. the Lady Chargers will host Rappahannock for the Region 1A title. Middlesex has defeated Rappahannock twice in the regular season.

If Middlesex wins, it will host Region 1B runner up in the first round of the State Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 16. Time is to be determined. If Middlesex loses to Rappahannock they will travel to meet Region 1B champion on Nov. 16.

On Nov. 6, the Lady Chargers defeated Westmoreland in three sets 25-22, 25-13 and 25-10.

It was nip and tuck in the first set and West Point held a 23-20 lead. The Lady Chargers battled back with five unanswered points to take the win 25-23.

In the third set, Middlesex jumped an 11-0 lead and held the Lady Pointers in check to take the set 25-17 and the title.

Karlie Morris added to her kills career record with 17 more. Other kills were delivered by Hailey Bruce with eight, Addy Heasley with five, Carly Jessie with four, Rori Stuart with four, and Courtney Jessie with three.

Heasley provided 34 assists.

At the conclusion of the tournament, the All-Tidewater District honors were announced. Lady Charger middle hitter Karlie Morris was named 2024 Tidewater District Player of the Year. Lady Chargers coach Brian Walton was selected Coach of the Year, sharing that title with King William’s Tiffany Ward.
