The Foundry, a Topping-based Christian youth center, honored and thanked its sponsors and supporters, Thursday, Oct. 24, with a reception in the Rosegill Barn near Urbanna.
The Foundry offers an after-school program that provides pre-teens and teens a safe place to go, to do their school work and participate in fun activities within a Christian environment.
At the event, Program Director Beth Justice told the packed audience that Foundry students receive the opportunity to build friendships, grow as individuals, are encouraged to learn skills to become leaders and to develop a vision and path for their future.
“Students benefit from our vetted volunteers who serve as mentors for middle and high school students and demonstrate and teach life skills that are rooted in Christian values and principals,” said Justice.
Youth members Tony Mills and Jacob Smith spoke of the positive experience they are having as youth in the organization. They said that they enjoy “game nights, trivia nights, open mic” and other regularly scheduled events and activities.
“No matter your age, barriers in life need to be overcome. The Foundry strives to help young people conquer barriers and provide the vision for them to forge successfully into the future,” said Ryland.
