This Saturday, Nov. 2, Christchurch School’s (CCS) gridiron Seahorses (6-2, 3-2) will compete in the Virginia Independent Schools Football League (VISFL) state  championship semifinals. The team has multiple players from Middlesex County.

CCS will travel to Lynchburg where they will play Virginia Episcopal School (VES) at 2 p.m. The Seahorses lost to VES 14-12 earlier this season in a homecoming nailbiter. The Fighting Bishops are currently 7-2, 6-2.

Christchurch defeated Chincoteague (2-9, 0-6) 48-24 Saturday. The Seahorses finished regular season play ranked number three in the eight-man VISFL with a 6-2 record. Covenant School is ranked number one, VES number two, and Rappahannock County High School of “Little Washington” number four.

The Seahorses are led by Head Coach Joel Jorgensen and assistant coaches John Dehm, Max Groen, Floyd Crouch, and Sebastian McGill (CCS 2019).

Team captains are Cameron Byers (’25) of Saluda, Mac Bargatze (’25) of Richmond, and William Flagg (’26) of Williamsburg.

Last year, the Seahorses edged out VES 40-38 to win the 2023 state title.
