A ‘boo-tiful’ time at Deltaville Maritime Museum

“Wanda the Witch” watches while money bestowed: Middlesex Moose Lodge 2401 President Ronn Kauffman, left, hands the check for $1,000 supporting the Oct. 31 “Scary Halloween in the Park” to Deltaville Maritime Museum  and Holly Point Nature Park President Pat Rabb-Zulick. The monies were collected by the local Lodge and will go towards candy and decorations. “Wanda the Witch” will be hiding  somewhere in the park, so keep an eye out. The Halloween event will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Halloween.

Yes, Halloween is on what we will for this year name “Terrible Thursday” and, ready or not, the goblins, ghouls, “ghosties,” and maybe a witch, warlock, and  zombie or two are beginning to stir, moan and generally raise a ruckus in the “Wailin’ Woods” and for the hayrides in the “Field of Screams” out at the maritime park of Deltaville Maritime Museum.

Volunteers at its annual “Scary Halloween in the Park” are turning up the “scariness” factor as our always unpredictable Halloween takes place on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at DMM, located at 287 Jackson Creek Road in Deltaville.

Our volunteers and staff work hard to make sure there is a “scary” level to make all age groups comfortable. In the “Pavilion of Peril,” all comers will find a well-lit, less “scary” area with plenty of candy being handed out. “Billz Bistro” in the pavilion will be open.

In the “Field of Screams,” two wagons of hayrides run a shadowy, sinister, scary, supernaturally sinuous and serpentine path through the ghosts, goblins and general dark and scariness.

What will happen next? Only the “Great Pumpkin” knows. It’s all a wonderful surprise! Things that go “bump” in the night! Where are Charlie Brown and Lucy when we need them?
