Carl E. Tate, 85, of Deltaville, formally of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024.
He is predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Ethel Tate; and daughter Sherry Sharpe.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Tate: son, Randy Tate and wife Dale Tate: one sister, Edith Wilson and her son Sandy Wilson; five grandchildren, Michael and Samatha Sharpe, Crystal and John Stilley, Matthew and Lauren Willington, Zack Willington, Amanda and Michael Bachmann; two stepsons, Charlie and Johnny McKinney; and eight grandchildren, Nathan, Conner, Gunnar, Chloe, Shannon, Corrine, Ozzie and Erik.
He was a member of Clarksbury Church in Hardyville, a lifetime member of the Donovan Masonic Lodge # 75 of Deltaville, and a member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department.
After retiring from printing with Wells Fargo Bank, he moved to Deltaville where he enjoyed life, fishing, and being at “The River.” He was a 1956 graduate of Battlefield High School in Mechanicsville and attended Bluefield University in Bluefield.
The funeral is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Clarksbury Church, 15924 General Puller Highway, Hardyville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church. A reception/celebration of life will follow in the church social hall. Burial will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover.
