The Middlesex High School golf team tied for third place with Chilhowie in the Class 1 State Tournament on Oct. 15 at the Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd in southwest Virginia.
Six Charger golfers played in the state tournament with only the top four scores counting. Kia Evans and Nielson McMinn each shot 84 to lead Charger scoring. Abel Crader shot 91. Henry Fleet shot 92. Caleb Jackson shot 96. Cameron Lambert shot 99.
The tournament low score went to Auburn’s Matthew Altizer who shot 70, which is two under par. Teammate Drew Royal shot par, 72.
