Patricia Garnett Russell of Urbanna, born Dec. 4, 1927, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She spent her life serving others. She faithfully served her church, Trinity Lutheran in Urbanna and in the past taught Sunday school and Bible school for more than 50 years. She volunteered at a hospital gift shop in Fairfax, and taught deaf children at Gallaudet University for the education of the deaf and hard of hearing. For years, she delivered Meals on Wheels in Middlesex County, was an officer of Middlesex County Elections and a member of the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary. She was also a  lifetime member of Middlesex County Woman’s Club. Her greatest passion was her love of children. She volunteered at Middlesex Elementary reading to students and helping in kindergarten and first grade for 26 years.
She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Marvin (Russ) Russell; daughters, Susan Prugh (Dave) and Janet Stellwagen (James, predeceased); grandchildren, Jenny McMurtrie (T.G.), Patty Larson (Erik), Chad Stellwagen, Daniel Prugh (Jen), Katherine Johnson (Jeremiah), Stephen Prugh (Laura); nine great-grandchildren, Russell and Thomas McMurtrie, Simon and Patrick Larson, Aaron and Anna Prugh, Bryce and Briana Johnson and Clayton Prugh; niece, Jean Garnett Kostesky (Ray); and a host of other nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Lily and Eugene Garnett; brother, Mariner Garnett; and sisters, Ellen McCready, Elizabeth Verblud and Kathryn Cox.
The family wishes to thank Riverside Hospice, Gloucester. Words cannot begin to express the heartfelt love and appreciation to the administration, nurses and special aides at Riverside Convalescent and Rehab Center, Saluda, for their excellent care, compassion and love.

A family graveside service was conducted at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery prior to the memorial service conducted at Urbanna United Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 20.
