The Dave Marchant Memorial Virginia Veterans Tournament was conducted Friday, Sept. 27, at the Piankatank River Golf Club (PRGC) in Hartfield. It was hosted by Topping-based Catholic Church of the Visitation Knights of Columbus Assembly 3349.
The annual event honors Marchant, who led the group at the time of his death in 2020. Proceeds go to the Virginia Veterans Services Foundation, which in turn supports the Virginia Department of Veterans Services. Together they assist those who have served and their families.
An event spokesman said the day was a great success despite the arrival of steady rain toward the end of the round. He praised the 68 golfers for their good cheer, and thanked the loyal sponsors and donors, eager volunteers, and PRGC team for its signature outstanding service.
