Middlesex volleyball improves to 16-2

The Middlesex High School varsity Lady Charger volleyball team is 16-2 after defeating Rappahannock of Warsaw and Northumberland; and losing to King William last week. On Monday at Rappahannock, the Lady Chargers lost the first two sets, but rallied to win the next three sets and the match against one of their toughest rivals.On Sept. 30, at Northumberland the Lady Chargers battled back after losing the first set 25-21 and swept the next three sets 25-16, 25-20 and 25-16 to take the match.

On Oct. 3 the Lady Chargers lost at King William in five sets. Middlesex won the first and second sets 25-10 and 25-10. King William rallied to take the next three sets 25-9, 25-15 and a 16-14 overtime win in set five.

  • Lady Charger serving averaged 85%. Libby Oliver made all nine of her serves with two aces; and had 20 digs.
  • Addy Heasley made 28 of 31 serves with two aces, had six points at the net, and six digs.
  • At the net, Karlie Morris connected for 18 points, and had four blocks. Hailey Bruce had 10 points and 10 digs.
  • Carly Jessie had 10 digs. Hannah Lambert had six digs.
  • Rori Stuart had 6 points.

Upcoming games

The varsity and junior varsity Lady Chargers host King and Queen Central tonight, Thursday, Oct. 10; and are at Mathews on Tuesday, Oct. 15. The varsity only hosts Charles City on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 6 p.m. in the final home game of the regular season.

The Lady Chargers wind up the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at West Point. All matches, except for Charles City, begin at 5:30 p.m. for the JV and the varsity plays at 7 p.m.
