MHS falls to Northampton, 42-18

The Middlesex High School Charger football team dropped to (2-3, 0-0) in the win-loss column Friday night at Eastville on Virginia’s Eastern Shore with a 42-18 loss to the Northampton Yellow Jackets.

Northampton had a 21-point second quarter to cruise to the win. The Yellow Jackets scored 7 points in the first quarter and had a 26-6 lead at the halftime. The Chargers 6 first half points came in the second quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass to JaQuan Griffin from MHS quarterback Shane Glenn.

The Chargers scored two more times in the second half as J. Griffin scored on a 67-yard run in the third quarter and Davonte Griffin scored on an 8-yard pass from Glenn in the fourth quarter. The Chargers were unable to convert on any of their trio of 2-point conversion attempts.

Coming up

The Chargers will play archrival West Point (1-4, 0-0) this Friday in the annual MHS homecoming game and the first conference game of the season at the Syd Thrift Athletic Complex at MHS in Saluda. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
