Workers poured the concrete foundation Monday, Sept. 30, for a $300,000 playground at the new Middlesex County “Buddy Park” at Cooks Corner.

Arthur Luce, president of Mid-Eastern Construction Inc., the firm building the playground, said that barring bad weather over the month the playground is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.

The new playground will have a “Chesapeake Bay plan” design which will include a child-size crab boat with a slide, a fish shack, swing set, crab climber and educational panels.

“It is going to be a state of the art playground with a theme that compliments the Middlesex County area,” said Luce. “We are excited about being able to make this all happen.”

The funding for the playground/park originally came from a $69,347 grant from Christine Thelma Taylor in honor of her late son, “Buddy” — Horace Taylor Jr. — with the request that the playground be inclusive for special needs users.
