One Community Under God (OCUG) is an annual, county-wide gathering for worship, music and fellowship. This year’s event is set for 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department’s station (the Urbanna firehouse) at 335 Virginia St. in Urbanna.

There will be very special music presented by George Robinson and his Gospel Robins group. Local musician, Bunny Dunlevy, will be a featured soloist. The Rev. K. Lamar Gresham, presently a pastor in Powhatan, is directing the OCUG choir that consists of members of various churches. In addition, congregational singing will be part of this gathering.

In 2011, One Community Under God came to be with three churches. This year there are 11 churches co-hosting OCUG. The churches include:

  • Antioch Baptist Church
  • Calvary Baptist Church
  • Christ Church Parish
  • First Baptist Church of Amburg
  • Grafton Baptist Church
  • Immanuel Baptist Church
  • Lebanon Baptist Church
  • Mount Zion Baptist Church
  • Saluda Baptist Church
  • Urbanna Baptist Church
  • Urbanna United Methodist Church

The churches invite all community members and visitors to join this year’s OCUG. Dress is casual. The hosting churches will provide a light lunch afterwards.

“Please join us!” A spokesman for the event urged.
