The Middlesex County Sports Complex Commission Board, known to most as the folks who oversee the Middlesex County Sports Complex (MCSC) in Locust Hill, has been very busy this fall at the complex.

“When you visit the park, you will notice a new and improved look,” said MCSC Treasurer Jackie Duke Taylor. “The upgrade for the lights on all four fields has been completed, so all fields have the LED lighting.

“The pathway when you enter and throughout the park has been asphalted as well as the walking track and the basketball court,” she said. “We have also added two new bathrooms to the concession stand and have enlarged the picnic table area.

“Other than an annual budget stipend from the county for basic grass cutting and electric power, the complex primarily operates on monies raised through the fundraising arm of the complex committee,” said Taylor.

The MCSC’s biggest fundraiser is the annual golf tournament at the Piankatank River Golf Course in Hartfield. This year the tournament is planned for Friday, Oct. 11, with a shotgun start at noon. Contact any member of the board to become a sponsor (there are several levels), donate to the silent auction, or to play in the tournament, said Taylor.
