With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Marshall Henry Johnson Jr., 80, on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024.
He was born Jan. 20, 1944.
He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. A dedicated business owner, passionate hunter, and antique car enthusiast, he spent his life pursuing adventure, whether in the wilderness or restoring the timeless beauty of classic cars.
Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, Marshall H. Johnson Sr. and Celia Davis Johnson; and his sisters, Patsy Bagby and Emma Johnson.
Marshall will be remembered for his generosity, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for family and community members.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Rodney) Willis of Saluda; son, James T. Johnson Sr. of Saluda; grandchildren, Amber (Keith) Keyser of Topping, James T. Johnson Jr. of Newport News, Iesha Lee of Henrico, Jayla Johnson of Newport News, Jade Johnson of Hartfield, and Cam’ron Staton; great-grandchildren, Keyana and Keyshawn Keyser of Hartfield; sisters, Annie Johnson of Saluda, and Mary Griffin of Gloucester; devoted niece, Sheila Johnson; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and close family.
He will be forever remembered for his warm spirit, love of antique cars, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he so loved. His spirit will continue to inspire us.

Per Marshall’s wishes, there will be no viewing or service, as he will be cremated.
