Lampkin Osborne passed away this summer; helped found MPFL

Middlesex Pet Friends for Life recently learned of the passing of one of our original supporters and indeed the inspiration for the founding of our organization. Lorrine Lampkin Osborne passed away on July 13, 2024. She was 93.

Lorrine Lampkin Osborne

Lorrine worked for Dr. Skinner at Hartfield Veterinary Hospital years ago. She was so very dedicated to the care of every animal that came through the hospital doors. Her dedication and caring went beyond her furry clients as she embraced the homeless animals at the Middlesex County Animal Shelter. She saw the need for medical care for which the county budget did not provide. She took it upon herself to conduct events at her home in Hartfield to raise funds to improve the lives of Middlesex homeless animals. She ran agility training classes and dog obedience classes and donated much of her profits to the shelter.

She spread her kind heartedness and love of the animals to the entire community sharing time and her own pets with school groups. She made the Middlesex community aware of the need for something more than one person could give to improve the lives of those homeless animals. She inspired the beginnings of MPFL.

So today Middlesex Pet Friends for Life is a 501c3 organization trying to honor Lorrine’s memory and carrying on the work she began. We think she’d be proud to know that due to the efforts of our many, many volunteers we have been awarded the honor of no-kill shelter by the nation-wide Best Friends Animal Society. That honor is a tribute to all MPFL supporters and volunteers and to Lorrine Osborne. Thank you.
