It’s that time of the year again, and the popular annual Oyster Roast and Dance is coming up Saturday, Sept. 14, to the Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park’s Events Pavilion. World Champion Oyster Shucker Deborah Pratt will be back shuckin’ and you cannot eat ’em as fast as she can shuck ’em.
And … it will be oysters, oysters, oysters, served on the half shell, steamed, and served as the delectable and popular “Oysters Rockefeller” prepared by DMM’s own “hot line” as the “special” on the buffet for the 15th annual Oyster Roast and Dance.
The best shucker anywhere, Deborah Pratt, and an assistant will have their oyster knives ready.
The Oyster Roast begins with a social hour from 5-6 p.m. with saxophonist Thomas Ruark.
The buffet opens from 6-7 “p.m.-ish” and the dance begins at 7 p.m. with a special treat as the highly anticipated fabulous New Jumbo Lump Daddy and the Backfin Boys take the stage.
There will be a wine/beer cash bar.
Tickets for the Oyster Roast and Dance are now $55 per person with a price increase to $60 starting on Sept. 9. Tickets are limited but some are still available as of this writing. Get yours at the DMM office and Nauti Nell’s store in Deltaville.
New this year, a raffle ticket toward a drawing for $100 will be offered at Jumbo Lump Daddy’s intermission. One raffle ticket will be given for each dinner ticket at the gate. You must be present to win.
DMM’s annual members meeting precedes the roast from 4-5 p.m.
