The 29th annual Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta will be offered Oct. 4 through 6 with two days of racing classic sailboats on the Rappahannock River off Irvington. Registration is under way.
The Turkey Shoot Regatta is one of the largest regattas on the Chesapeake Bay and the second-largest Hospice Regatta in the U.S. It is co-sponsored each year by the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (rryc.org) and Yankee Point Yacht Club (yprcc.org), reported Tom Wicks. Shoreside activities include happy hour, music, meals and awards on the grounds of the Rappahannock River Yacht Club on Carter Creek adjacent to Rappahannock Yachts.
Serving as race co-chairmen are Tom Chapman and Jerry Latell.
Any monohull sailboat of a design greater than 20 years old is eligible to enter, and if the boat is registered before Sept. 1 there is a discount of $10 off the $105 entry fee and the boat name is added to the Regatta T-shirt. Registration includes free breakfasts for the crew and a free T-shirt, cap and mug for each skipper. See Yachtscoring.com for registration and purchase details.
