Concert, market, other fun Saturday

There are big doings at Deltaville Maritime Museum (DMM) and Holly Point Nature Park this Saturday, Aug. 24!

Not only the casual Holly Point Market and all its new vendors, but there’ll be live music starting at 10 a.m. with Sandy and O.T. Adcock in the open events pavilion, a vintage classic car show, workboat tours on the floating  pier aboard the museum’s own deadrise, “Jenny May,” model trains in the children’s garden, egg sandwiches at the tea house, food on the waterfront and the Holly Point Market starting at 9 a.m. as DMM opens early.

“Groovin’ in the Park”
4-8 p.m.

Starting at 9 a.m., the Holly Point Market starts off in style in the arbors and gardens of the maritime park events and waterfront areas. The vendors will be offering a wide variety of  produce, foods, crafts, art and handmades will line the market lanes.

  • Bistro East, operating out of the new tea house kitchen, offers egg sandwiches, hot dogs and other goodies.
  • Popular Hometown Burgers will be attending “Groovin’ ” and may come early for the market.
  • DMM’s own “Elevated Railway” model train and village is now operating at every market in the children’s garden.
  • Don’t miss our neat gift shop in DMM. It has lots of things for children. Also, DMM’s “Museum Pictorial History Book” is on sale.
Rappahannock Crossing includes Isaac Hyde on mandolin, Mike Nicely on guitar, Randy Crittenden on dobro, Spencer Atkinson on bass and Curtis Brizendine on banjo. The group will headline the 2022 Groovin’ in the Park season finale Saturday. (Contributed)

Around 4 p.m. “Groovin’ in the Park” brings the road trip music of Gary Archer and the “Members” opening at 5 p.m. for the bluegrass tunes of Rappahannock Crossing. Time to hoedown, y’all!
