Prayer, vision, action — On Sept. 10, you are invited to the Catholic Diocese of Richmond Pastoral Center, 7800 Carousel Drive, Richmond, for “Prayer, Vision and Action.” The event, which offers noon and 6 p.m. sessions, features a meal, prayer, networking, and a presentation looking at three key areas of pro-life work to pay attention to the coming year:

• Prayer — Presented by 40 Days for Life, this will feature  stories and education around this first action and essential ministry to the pro-life movement.

• Vision — Presented by the Catholic Diocese of  Richmond, this will offer a preview of the most significant legislation and advocacy opportunities in the coming year.

• Action — Presented by HerPLAN, this will offer an update on the network of ministries, organizations, and resources that currently exist to make it as easy as possible for women to choose life across the commonwealth.

If you are helping with a “Walking With Moms In Need” ministry, or you are otherwise involved in  pro-life ministry at your parish, this event will be very helpful. While this event will focus primarily on crisis pregnancy, it will highlight significant pro-life legislation and resources that serve vulnerable populations and families regardless of  pregnancy status.

While Catholic Church of the Visitation’s pastor, Father Johnny Mintah-Mensah “Koo,” is away in Africa, the church’s Adult Faith Formation and Liturgy and Worship ministries invite fellow parishioners to gather for morning prayer in the day chapel on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. These will be short and structured prayer services and will include the scripture readings that would have been read if Father was celebrating Daily Mass in Topping.

While these prayerful gatherings are no substitute for Holy Mass and reception of the Eucharist, remember Jesus said, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)
