With six returning golfers, four of whom are seniors, Middlesex High School golf team co-coaches David Lutz and Steve Dunkel are optimistic about the season. “We have only had a week’s worth of practice so far but the team is looking promising,” said Lutz. “We still have some rust to knock off as a whole, but I am optimistic that this could be the best overall team that we have had since Steve and I started coaching.”
The Chargers finished first in the Tidewater District last season. “We are hoping to capture district and region titles this season,” said Lutz.
Two returning players will lead the Chargers, senior Nielson McMinn and sophomore Kai Evans. Each was a state qualifying golfer last season.
Other returning players include seniors, Abel Crader, Cole Glasco, Cameron Lambert; and a junior, Caleb Jackson.
Players new to the Charger team include senior Dylan Janisko, sophomore Henry Fleet, and freshmen Brayden Bruce and Zeke Koontz.
