On Friday, Aug. 2, a Gloucester County Circuit Court jury found Tyrell Lamont Samuel guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of 18-year-old Skyler Ann Merenda, during a 2022 home invasion, indicate court records.
Samuel, 26, of Saluda, was also found guilty of several other felonies, including shooting and wounding a then-20-year-old man in the leg who was also in the house.
He also was found guilty of malicious wounding, two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony, armed burglary, possession of a firearm by a felon, and other felonies, court records indicate.
The shooting occurred at a house where the two victims lived on Bufflehead Drive in Gloucester on Aug. 15, 2022 about 2 a.m.
Sentencing is set for Nov. 12, in Gloucester Circuit Court.
