The Rev. Dr. Robert Prichard and the Rev. Elisa Wheeler will be greeting worshipers and preaching at the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services at Christ Church Parish (Episcopal) during the current interim period, which follows the June 30 retirement of the church’s full-time rector, the Rev. Stuart C. Wood.
Serving as the church’s priest associate since 2019, Robert “Bob” Prichard’s family has spent many years in Middlesex County and he has a home in Topping. He has been a member of the faculty at Virginia Theological Seminary since 1983, now faculty emeritus and still residing part-time in Alexandria.
The Rev. Dr. Prichard has been active on many committees in the Virginia Episcopal Diocese and is widely recognized as a highly published authority on the history of the Episcopal Church. He has served congregations in Northern Virginia and in the Shenandoah Valley, including a Hispanic church that he founded.
The Rev. Wheeler lives in Mathews and was the rector of Kingston Parish from 1999-2005.
