The Deltaville Deltas begin playoffs this Saturday after closing out their regular season with a 6-1 win over the Richmond Dirt Devils last Saturday night at Deltaville Ballpark, finishing their summer slate on a three-game win streak heading into the Richmond NABA playoffs.
The playoff format pits the top eight teams against each other in a single elimination bracket — lose and you’re out. After two rounds played over the next seven days, the final two teams will square off in a best-of-three championship the weekend of Aug. 9.
Deltaville’s ranking in the bracket has not become final as of yet, but what is certain is that they will be the higher seed for the first round, and get to host their opening round opponent. The Deltas begin playoffs this Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Deltaville Ballpark.
The Deltas, with an 11-3-1 record in league play, are a lock for at least the no. three seed.
However, they could move up to the number two seed if the Richmond El Heaters fall in their final regular season game this week. The Deltas opponent for Saturday was equally uncertain at press time, with the four potential opponents fighting for position across eight games this week.
Last Saturday night, the Deltas capped off their regular season with a victory over the Dirt Devils.
