Deltaville Yachting Center technician earns certificate

Registered Virginia State Apprenticeship Consultant Clayton Duvall recently presented Dylan O’Hare, Deltaville Yachting Center (DYC) marine technician, with a Virginia state marine technician journeyman certificate.

O’Hare has completed two years of technical training in marine electrical, engines, systems, rigging and structural repair, along with coursework in computer skills, 10-hour OSHA safety and boatyard heavy equipment operation.

The coursework requirements for completing the marine technician apprenticeship is carefully monitored, including at least three years of on the job experience under senior technical supervision for a total combined experience and coursework of 4,000 hours.

Deltaville Yachting Center has been an active Virginia state apprenticeship sponsor since 2003. DYC will continue to support Dylan O’Hare’s education as he continues to expand his marine technical skills through his certification and a variety of dealership factory training courses.
