Deltaville library to host Folk Art Experience program

The Middlesex County Public Library system is hosting its four-day Folk Art Experience event at MCPL’s Deltaville branch from Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 8-11. The program will be led by folk artist William Clarke, who has won acclaim for his work depicting life in rural Virginia. At the end, each participant will walk away with a matted and framed work of art of his or her own creation.

It is free to attend, all ages are welcome, and all supplies are provided. An RSVP is requested; to reserve a space, call the library at 804-758-5717 or email yourmiddlesexlibrary@gmail.com.

The program launches on Thursday, Aug. 8, with a class for children at 1 p.m., followed by a class for adults at 6 p.m. After the paintings dry on Friday, Clarke will mat and frame them on Saturday. Attendees are welcome to watch the process and assist during the library’s open hours.

On Sunday, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., everyone’s work will be featured in a reception.
