George Robinson and the Gospel Robins will provide music for this Sunday’s worship service at Bethpage Camp-Resort. (Bethpage is at 4685 Old Virginia St. near Urbanna.) C.J. Revere of Harmony Grove Baptist Church will speak. The gathering for fellowship, music, prayer and worship will be at 9 a.m. at Bethpage’s amphitheater. In case of rain, Bathpage’s rally center will be open.

Urbanna Baptist Church has been hosting the summer worship services at Bethpage for 43 years. All campers, community members and visitors are invited to come. Dress is casual.

Calvary Baptist Church of Saluda has scheduled a special celebration to mark the 30th pastor anniversary of the Rev. Paul S. Pleasants and First Lady Shelia Pleasants. It is set for 5 p.m.-midnight Sept. 21 at the Marriott City Center, 740 Town Center Drive, Newport News.

Grafton Baptist Church’s celebration of the 10th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Lewis H. Johnson Sr., is set for Sunday, Sept. 8. It will include morning worship at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Lawrencine Smith, associate pastor, Good Shepherd Baptist Church, bringing the message.

The celebration will continue with a banquet at 2 p.m. at The Beacon, 2733 Grey’s Point Road, Topping.

Tickets for the banquet are $25, adults; $15, ages 5-12; and ages 4 and younger free.

Harmony Grove Baptist Church (HGBC) is ready and waiting to help the children in our community to be prepared to succeed by providing basic school supplies at a free, annual pre-school event, “Back-to-School Blast 2024.”

On Saturday, Aug. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., HGBC and the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department will co-host the event at the church. HGBC is located at the intersection of General Puller Highway (Route 33) and Grey’s Point Road (Route 3) in Harmony Village near Topping. The physical address for HGBC is 7722 General Puller Highway.

Children of kindergarten through grade six ages are invited to enjoy hotdogs, drinks, popcorn, cookies, snow cones and games for all ages, including water games.

Congregants at Lower United Methodist Church (LUMC) at 120 Lower Church Road, Hartfield, hope everyone will join them for worship this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Their guest speaker will be Susan Thomas.

Zion Hill Baptist Church, 10256 Indian Road, Gloucester, will have in-person worship service on Sunday, July 21, at 10 a.m. Pastor Eugene Comithier II will preach and the Inspirational Voices will sing.

On Sunday, July 21,  at 11 a.m. Antioch Baptist Church in Saluda will have its annual Youth Day program. Minister Larrine Goins will bring the morning message along with  a special musical guest.


Immanuel Baptist Church, Saluda, will celebrate its annual homecoming on Sunday, July 28, at 10 a.m.

Dr. Valerie C. Matthews of Charles City will be the guest  preacher at the 10 a.m. service. Dinner will be served following the morning service. There will be no afternoon service. 

Music is under the direction of Brother Leon Harris.

Revival services will be offered Tuesday-Thursday, July 30-Aug. 1. The Rev. Dr. Robert Diggs, pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Petersburg, will be the revivalist. 

Praise and Worship will begin at 7 p.m., the service will begin at 7:30 p.m. and The Preached Word is at 8 p.m.

Music will be provided by various singing groups.
