The celebration continues in July at Deltaville Maritime Museum on the 27th, with a large weekend of happenings. Flowers are in bloom, shrubbery is budding and the arbors of the maritime park are filling with shade as the leaves fill in.
The Holly Point Market: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
- With more than 50 vendors will line the market lanes, local crafts, art, jewelry, handpainted glass, natural soaps, quilts, beads, and sweets are all along the line.
- Don’t miss our restocked gift shop in DMM — there’s lots of neat stuff for the kids.
Pierwalk: 10 a.m.
- Restored buyboat “F.D. Crockett,” DMM’s flagship, premier, and 100 year-old Chesapeake Bay ambassador, open for tours.
- Captain Pete and the beautiful “Jennie May” deadrise are scheduled, weather permitting, to be on hand and ready for free creek cruises.
- The “Explorer,” DMM’s 1608 John Smith shallop replica is being given her annual facelift and will either be under the Explorer Shed or next to the DMM.
Groovin’ in the Park 5-8 p.m.
Steve Bassett 6-8 p.m.
Clayton Neal 5-6 p.m.
Relax in the “Sweet Virginia Breeze” as Steve Bassett sings “Take Me Away” to “Virginia in the Springtime.” All your favorites and the new stuff too! The anniversary receptions, featuring Groovin’s first performer in 2009, Clayton Neal, starts the celebration at 5 p.m.
This is a “bring your own lawn chair, cooler and picnic” event. Hot dogs and cold drinks will be available.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Get yours at the DMM office, on DMM’s website or at Nauti Nell’s store in Deltaville.
